In this video Coach Edwards talks about just why Lacrosse Goalie Communication is so important to the success of a team defence.
We have a complete module on Lacrosse Goalie Communication inside Lacrosse Goalie University and I’d love to see you in there.
Hey Coach Edwards, I recently began playing goalie for my college club team and i really enjoy playing that position and have a natural talent for it. One thing I’ve noticed is that most successful goalies are very loud and vocal on the field. I was wondering what key words/calls i should give the most focus to when on the field? I know calling out the ball position helps your defense while simultaneously confusing the offense a little, but other than that what else would you recommend I work on?
Myles the biggest call you will need to make is the “Slide” call. You’ll need to get organized with your coach, and your defence, as to who is going to be your first slide, and who is helping out the guy who is sliding. I call that “helping”.. So you’ll be calling “Tom you’re HOT!” Meaning Tom is the first guy to slide. “Chris you’re HELPING” So Chris would fill to cover Tom’s guy when Tom slides to help the guy who just got beaten by the ball carrier.
