Question: This female goalie has an Eclipse with hard mesh with an AL6000 shaft. She wonders if it’s too heavy and if it’s hurting her getting to those low shots.
Answer: I love the Eclipse and I recommend to all goalies to invest in a titanium shaft when you get the chance. You will spend a ton but it will probably be the last shaft you ever have to buy because it will last forever. They are super light. Really strong. And worth every penny.
Also, in regards to those low shots, if you are a little bit more aggressive in your stance you should get down on the ball better. What I mean is, take a stance that has a little more forward lean with the upperbody. Do this small drill, get in your normal stance, the one you have now. Now, imagine I’m about to ask you to sprint forward. What will happen is you will lean just slightly forward so that you are ready to run. That little lean forward will help you get to those low shots sooner.
