Question: I just signed up for your emails… and I plan on ordering the dvd, in the future.  I am trying to help my daughter, she is the goalie, and so far she has had great success for her first year.  She just finished her 3rd grade season, with nothing more then determination and some basic guidance from me and one other coach.   Our program is very new so we are finding our way in the lacrosse world, by learning as we go.

I plan on taking pictures of my daughters stick and figuring out how improve it.  Everything you mentioned in this letter is spot on, she struggled to pass with the hand me down stick we inherited from the club.  I plan on mastering the art of stringing by the time the season starts in 2010.

Answer: Dean the biggest problem you will have at that age is strength. Stringing will help a little but she will just lack the strength to deal with the stick and make solid passes.

Check out www.LTAD.ca and read the report on long term athlete development. It will help you through the frustrating times.
